This doll house is great for very young children. Other houses have too much detail that small children can easily break like shingles, spindles and knobs, etc. It is made of durable, thick wood for the most part so it takes a young childs beating. Even the furniture and dolls are very durable. Little kids don't care too much for intricate details and don't know how to care for such details. With this house, you don't have to worry about scratches, gouges or tears. The dolls don't have silky hair to get rats nest tangles in them either. My grand daughter was 18 months when I got this for Xmas. She loves playing with it and I don't have to cringe about the way she treats the dollhouse. Young children love playing with these kinds of toys but too often they are designed for the older kids.
